Hey *wave*. I’ve been thinking over the past 2 or 3 weeks about what features I can do on this blog. As I’m unemployed, I can’t afford to host giveaways ((Though I might say otherwise in the next paragraph.)) but I can try to make things a little more interesting than simply a few reviews and some memes. You’ve already seen a couple of changes recently in the form of In My Mailbox, in which I have started using self-taken images of my new preciouses and discussing a little about why I have the book which I hope brings a little personality to my IMM as I don’t have the equipment to record a vlog. And the name and design of the blog in general. If none of this is new to you and you’re a new follower, welcome! But for me, it’s not enough. I want my blog to be just a little different. Perhaps it won’t be drastically unique, but I’ll do what I can.

First of all, you may notice the UK & EU Summer Hop button at the top of my sidebar. At the very last minute I decided to participate in the hop. You see, I have a fair few old books lying around and whilst I can’t afford to host a giveaway, I’m sure I can manage to post a used book to somebody in the UK. Totally inspired by Curiosity Killed The Bookworm‘s ‘pre-loved’ giveaways and The Slowest Bookworm‘s ‘shelf clearance’ giveaway. This giveaway will be ‘the books I loved as a teen’, name still pending. Forgotten gems in the YA world of books that I’m no longer interested in but I bet some of you certainly will be. While I’d already decided to host a UK giveaway, I figured I may as well join in with the hop. Hops are great fun and brilliant ways to meet new bloggers so I couldn’t resist. It sounds fantastic! This will be going up on Once Upon A Time on August 1st and I can’t wait. They have a giveaway up there on the main hop site already so go check it out now.

Next, I’m planning to write a series about getting your hands on books to read when you can’t quite afford them. I think I’ve pretty much become an expert on this matter in my local area so why not impart my knowledge on you guys? Perhaps I’ll mention something you didn’t know about or just hadn’t thought of until now. Most likely you’ll already know all the sweet spots but I still think it’s well worth a feature. As I have a few things to discuss in this series, it will span over a few weeks. This will give me a little mid-week content while I’m reading to prepare for an even bigger feature.

Discovering Steampunk! I’ve always been curious about steampunk as a genre and up until now I have never read anything that could be classed as steampunk. I do own a couple of books already, though I have yet had chance to read them. I’m planning to do a kind of introduction to steampunk feature which will include information about steampunk, perhaps a little art, book reviews (which is what I need to prepare for, I’d like a few of these) and hopefully one or two different things that I haven’t been able to confirm or decide on or sort out yet. I do have a list of books, and four on my shelf at the moment, though I’m still trying to gather a few books to feature. I’m still undecided on whether it will be a 2 week thing or a month long thing but it is something that you can anticipate for Once Upon A Time.

I’m also planning on a Hobbit re-read when I get a chance and manage to get a copy, as my old copy was lent to my nanny and I never got it back and won’t be able to now. With the movie finally on the horizon, The Hobbit is on everybody’s minds. Okay, perhaps not everybody’s, but it is a lot more prominent than it was a couple of years ago. I haven’t read the book since I was about 14 back when I read Lord of the Rings so I figured why not do a re-read? I’ll read, take notes and discuss, in detail over a period of time, The Hobbit. People can readalong with me and discuss or just enjoy the posts.

As always if you have any suggestions or would like to help in any way, feel free to leave a comment or contact me. I will always really appreciate any guest posts, especially at the moment as I won’t have many reviews for a fair while, and they’re already sparse enough. I can’t quite afford everything I need for the features yet so hopefully I’m able to sort this out because I’m really looking forward to everything!

I hope some of this interests you, happy reading!
