In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren.
I won a goodie bag from Jo Fletcher this week from a twitter contest. Yay. It’s a cloth bag with their lovely logo printed on the front (you can’t see it in the picture), containing a notebook with their logo and a few book advertisements inside, and a book also with their logo on the front containing samples of all of Jo Fletcher’s books. Very good idea, I had a little browse the other day. I didn’t know Charlaine Harris and Christopher Golden were doing a book together! He was one of the better authors of the Buffy tie-in books I read when I was a teen. 🙂
Received for Review
Miracle on Regent Street by Ali Harris | Goodreads
Another chick lit through from Simon & Schuster. Thank you for that. Close to 500 pages, British author, seems well-written and the author is being compared to Cecelia Ahern. I don’t usually pay much heed to “this author is just like that author!” because it’s usually not the case at all but if there is a hint of magical realism to this sweet-sounding, Christmassy story then I’m sure it’ll be great fun. I shall probably give this a read in November when myself and others are more interested in Christmassy reads. Really cute cover as well.
The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima | Goodreads
I’m really, really interested in reading Cinda’s books. I keep hearing great things about them and you know I love fantasy. When I saw that this one was up on NetGalley because of the release of the third book in the series I of course snapped it up. Can’t wait to finally see what her books are like.
Cicada by Belle Whittington | Goodreads
The other day I had an email through from the author asking if I’d be willing to review her book. I checked it out and though I’m pretty jam-packed at the moment it was a big yes. She really seems to have put a lot of love and effort into her book and it passed the first sentence test with flying colours. I’m really excited to get started and should hopefully have Belle along on the blog in November! I have exchanged a couple of emails with her and she is a very bubbly person, I look forward to it. And isn’t that cover just gorgeous?!
Stick around because starting tomorrow at Once Upon A Time will be Discovering Steampunk and it is going to be awesome! There will be giveaways, author interviews, book reviews and guest posts.
